Sapporo Snow Festival — Ice and Snow Sculptures at Odori Park (February)
Held over a week each February, the Sapporo Snow Festival is Hokkaido’s most beloved winter event. Across three sites — Odori Park, Susukino, and the Tsudome family area — the city becomes a stage for monumental ice and snow sculptures crafted by both professional teams and visiting artists from around the world.
The main Odori site stretches along the 1.5-kilometre central park, lit through the night with projection mapping and gentle illumination. The smaller Susukino site presents finely carved ice sculptures along its main street, while Tsudome offers snow slides and tubing for families.
From A Good Day Sapporo City Stay, the festival is a short walk away. Late afternoon light gives the sculptures a particularly photographic quality before the evening crowds arrive.
